As a family hobby and lifestyle, RoyalLions is a small high quality Florida Maine Coon breeder that raises and shows Championship Maine Coons in TICA, the world’s largest genetic registry of pedigree cats. We are located just south of Tallahassee in the rural coastal county of Wakulla on Ochlockonee Bay. We are a registered cattery in the two predominant cat associations worldwide so our stock is better evaluated: TICA (The International Cat Association) and CFA (Cat Fanciers Association). Quality of Life is our first and foremost priority for our breeding cats. We want the management of our cattery including health and sanitation to exceed today's standards, thus, we are routinely inspected by a licensed veterinarian, earning perfect scores and have been designated as a TICA Cattery of Excellence. We strictly adhere to the Code of Ethics required by TICA and CFA by implementing all provisions concerning showing, breeding, and placement of kittens as set forth by these two associations. 

 

We are extremely fortunate to have been mentored by “Broadsway Cats” who have 30 years of reputable experience in the Cat Fancy producing dozens of Regional and International Winners including OS, IW, SGC Redding who sired TICA’s 2007 #1 Cat in the World, “MTNest Midnight Cowboy”. We have now produced two International Winners ourselves. This is the  most difficult and highest distinction a cat can earn in the show world where they are objectively evaluated for breed structure, conformation, and disposition. RoyalLions Count Blackula and RoyalLions Lunar Eclipse of MTNest, a solid black male and female, obtained these prestigious titles. In addition, we have two Southeast Regional and Best Maine Coon Cat Winners: CascadeMtn Love Shack of RoyalLions and RoyalLions Count Blackula. Other Regional Winners include: RoyalLions Jewel Thief of Tanstaafl and RoyalLions Victoria Secret of Broadsway. Our Broadsway Redford of RoyalLions is a two-time Southeast Regional Award Winner.

 

Despite achievements in the show world, our primary goal remains steadfast: though we live in a relatively modest home, our cats believe they live in a castle! With multiple cat trees and custom window perches in every room overlooking Ochlockonee Bay, “the lions” occupy the best seats in the house and enjoy a special freedom many breeding cats aren't afforded. We refrain from using outside kennels, garages, crates or isolation areas nor do we raise kittens “off-site” which is becoming common. Our sires roam free in their designated domain within our home, this way they are included in family life yet appropriately segregated from breeding females. We agree with the philosophy of an exclusive indoor life because it prevents outdoor threats including: parasites, contagious diseases such as Feline Aids & Leukemia, wild/rabid predators, and vehicles. In addition, indoor life significantly enhances socialization and bonding leading to cats that become very childlike and emotionally  attached. Our Maine Coons join us in just about every activity we do including family vacations necessitating our permanent litter box in the back of our Chevy Suburban. They have freedom to all living areas and are full family members with nicknames, self-declared chill-out spots, and their own personal china. Our “Redford” in fact has his own stool at our dinner table. We feel a cat has a natural right to  the finer things in life and making these accommodations is a special privilege for in return they reward us with astounding and incomparable love and affection!  To meet us, scroll to the very bottom.

History: Adopted a MC Mix in College. Maverick was the best cat we ever encountered. It made us wonder how much better

a pure bred might be. Years later we  attended a Cat Show & purchased our 1st Maine Coon, we were hooked!  It’s the only breed we will ever own and thus our  passion in sharing it!

 

Philosophy: “A spoiled Queen will produce happy and well adjusted kittens. They must be incorporated as Family Members from the very beginning as the critical socialization period is 2-12 weeks old. A well raised kitten handled & trained daily is confident, bold, and affectionate! Our goal is to make somebody’s day when we hand them the kitten of their dreams which will impact their life in a very profound way!”
